Neon Stripes

Steps:

Basecoat, then apply 1-2 coats white polish (I used 2 coats of Sinful Snow Mw White)
Apply random splotches of neon in different colors (I used SinfulMelon, Fusion, Irish Green, and Summer Peach) to nails (I just “dotted” colors using applicator brush)
Let dry completely; topcoat optional (i used one)
When polish is completely dry, apply pieces of striping tape at random
Apply one coat of black nail polish (I used Wet N Wild Black Creme) and while polish is still wet, peel off the pieces of tape carefully
Let dry completely and apply topcoat.

I’m reposting this cause I’ve got the prize all packaged and ready to go but I LOST 4 readers over the holidays instead of gaining the 7 we had to get so I can give someone all this awesome stuff! Spread the word, y’all. ;)

Eight fauxnad (konad dupes) nail stamping image plates including: m22, m27, m44, m56, m60, m63, m73, & m78 (links open detailed image of each plate in new window) Note that they have a blue plastic protective layer on top that must be peeled off before use (that is what looks scratched up in the pic above, the actual plates are not scratched!)

One Onyx Pro acetone corrector pen (I love these, easier than using brushes IMHO and when they dry up, just dip tip in NP remover to “reuse)

China Glaze “Scarlet” and “Heaven” Nail Polishes (just for the heck of it)

I made the mistake of choosing to do xmas lights over my already deep red mani. A mistake only because I first used black for the “wires” but you couldn’t see it very well so it just looked like i put random colored eggy dots over burgundy so I went back over the black with Sally Hansen Complete Manicure “Gilty Pleasure”.

Base: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “Brick Wall”+base/topcoat

Design: freehand painted using two very thin nail art brushes to paint the wire (SH Complete Manicure “Gilty Pleasure”) and “lights” (SH InstaDri in Whirlwind White, Lickety-Split Lime, Lightening, Brisk Blue, & Peachy Breeze”)

Day 14 of the 31 Day Challenge: Animal Prints

Okay, I hate animal prints. I’ve always thought they were lame and since I really didn’t want to do any of the animal prints, I decided to do all of them using all the super-bright colors that I wouldn’t normally wear (I’m an earth-tone, neutral, anti-neon type of chick). Why not, right?

I actually ended up really liking how it came out and wore it for a couple of days.

Day 13 of the 30 Day Manicure Challenge: Stripes.

Sorry for the lack of blogging this past couple of weeks. I started a new job and have been super busy. So tonight is “catch up” night (might not have had time to blog but I always find time to do my nailz).

I actually tried to be all creative with this challenge and do some crazy coral color and teal over taxi yellow free hand stripes but the colors were so awful once I actually saw them on my nails (they looked okay when I held their wheel swatches next to each other but ohmygod the clashing once I started striping) so I decided to do the simple stamped b&w stripes.

I’m excited to see all my new followers! Welcome and I hope you enjoy my experiments in my new hobby. We’re up to 95 followers! Oh my, this is a lot of info and I don’t want to overload you! Thanks for following and the inquiry. I recommend starting out with either one of the BundleMonster sets available on Amazon (the most recent collection if you have to choose just one). Or on ebay, there are fauxnad plates sold in sets of 12pc to 50pc & ranging in price from 9.99USD to 45USD+. These are duplicates of the pricey Konad brand plates (avg 7.50USD per small plate) and I think you can purchase konad dupes individually on the born pretty site but I’m not sure. I kinda like the plates being a surprise when I open them though and it’s just so cheap to buy them in lots.

You will also have to get Stamper/Scraper. I recommend the 2-sided konad set ($3USD on Amazon).

Here’s my latest haul from a bulk buy on ebay (gotta love ‘em!). I swatched them and added them to my polish inventory spread sheet last night. Gonna test the more opaque ones for stampability in a bit. I’ll post pics of my newly organized workstation later.

I also wanted to let you all know about a great new organization that provides responsible nail polish owners (or future owners) the opportunity to adopt some polishes-in-need. This is a very important cause and you can apply to be the parent of some previously neglected and abused brand new nail polishes at adoptapolish.org. I think this is a great opportunity for nail polish lovers everywhere to open their hearts and homes during this season of giving! Here is an excerpt from their press release:
